The implementation of these two lessons in both U.S. History class and Spanish class will coincide to meet to reach a co-taught lesson in which we will address modern day crisis. The U.S. history course will have completed a two day lesson covering the Cuban Missile Crisis while the Spanish class has finished a two day lesson on researching crisis on Latin Spanish speaking countries. Upon, building background knowledge in both perspective content areas, teachers will present a lesson on modern day crisis: 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, and Sandy Hook Elementary.
After implementation of the joint lesson, teachers will implement areas of concern (gang violence, domestic abuse, tragedies, amongst others) in Northern County. Teachers will direct their attention to focusing on the homelessness throughout North County and raise the st by listing a number of shelter communities throughout the North County.
