A guest speaker will come in to talk to students about homelessness. Guest speaker will talk about the shelter and what some their needs are. Students may do a food drive, clothes drive, or a combination drive that include any items that may be of need at the shelter.
Students will investigate the statistics of homeless in the area (special focus on Vista). Students will decide which shelter they would like to give their donations to. Students will collaborate to find out how they will provide their help. Students are to get the word out about their “drive” by creating flyers, videos, and announcements. Students will sign up into small groups and pick assignments on their choice of getting the word out. Students will be responsible for implementing the drive and gain school wide support.
Students will write a reflection on what they have learned about the project, homelessness, and helping the community. Students will demonstrate this to others by creating their own presentation and presenting them in their Spanish class or History class.
